Album of the Month: Daft Punk - Alive 2007
I became a fan of Daft Punk back in 1997, and I distinctly remember the reason. When their single Around the World came out that year, I had never really been exposed to electronic to that point. I was still only 12 or 13, so electronic music hadn’t really been a part of my musical education to that point. The music video for Around the World was what particularly peaked my interest, as it looked nothing like any other music video out there.
Now years later I’ve been able to explore all the albums of Daft Punk, and while I prefer the older ones to the more recent Human After All album, the recent release of a live album was fantastic. Unlike most live albums where artist play some of their best songs, maybe a cover song or two, and say some random made up words, Daft Punk actually mixes and remixes most of their songs into one long and incredible set for any fan of their music.
Anyways, if you like Daft Punk, I guarantee you will love the album. They bring old and new together, mixing and matching beats like the musical geniuses that they are. Enjoy!
